Concluding AY2022…

Concluding AY2022…

CGSC Foundation Alumni, Friends, and Supporters –

Greetings from Fort Leavenworth.

As we transition into summer, we welcome aboard our new Deputy Commandant, Brig. Gen. David C. Foley. Having had the pleasure of his company earlier this year at our March board of trustees meeting, we look forward to working with General Foley and supporting his efforts as we execute our mission to enhance the educational experience of the Command and General Staff College.

With the deluge of moving vans all across Post signaling the end of the academic year, I offer my congratulations to the graduates of SAMS, CGSOC, and SMC (Sergeants Major Course) Class of 2022. I wish all well as they return to the field force and to their home countries to stand at the vanguard of freedom. It is the pleasure of our Foundation to join with the College to recognize those who achieve excellence in scholarship and leadership by sponsoring many of the mementos presented at the graduation ceremonies. We just published an article highlighting the recent graduation and achievements of the SAMS students and will highlight the coming graduation ceremonies of CGSOC and SMC.

I invite all graduates (new and old) to join the CGSCF Alumni Association. As members of the Alumni Association, not only are you able to maintain professional contact with fellow classmates, you also support the programs and services our Foundation provides which will enhance the educational experience for those who follow us.

As activities continue to return to pre-COVID rules, your Foundation is planning for a return of several of the activities we have enjoyed conducting in the past. For AY2023 we are planning for National Security Roundtables (NSRT), in-person InterAgency Brown Bag Lectures (IABBLS), the Powell Lecture Series, in-person Distinguished Lecture Series presentations (DLS), and VIP visits to the College. And we are also planning family-friendly activities that include a 5K run event, a social at the Kansas Speedway, a fishing derby, and a Wreaths Across America gathering. Please watch for these events and I invite you to both support and participate.

I hope that you enjoyed the latest issue of our Foundation News magazine. It was our pleasure to highlight the recent visit to the College by Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth, and to provide the forum for messages from the senior leadership of CGSC and Army University. I invite you to submit your Alumni Updates and as always, I welcome your feedback and suggestions. If you haven’t seen our magazine, that means we don’t have your USPS mailing data! While you can read the magazine on our website, we would be happy to send you a print copy. Use the Contact Us form on our website to update your information.

Thank you for your continued support, particularly over these past two years. What your Foundation does for the College and our Army matters. Thank you for making a positive difference.

Stay safe.
