Spring is here…

CGSC Foundation Alumni, Friends, and Supporters –

Greetings from Fort Leavenworth. As we transition into spring, you can see in the lead stories and scheduled events sections of our website that our Foundation continues to execute our mission in support of the College and the greater Fort Leavenworth community. Our programs that enhance the educational experience at the College and positively impact on the quality of life for families in our community are getting back into full swing (despite COVID-19 restrictions) and I thank you for your continued support that makes this possible.

We just completed our spring board of trustees meeting here at Fort Leavenworth and had the privilege of meeting with both the outgoing and incoming CGSC Deputy Commandant, the CGSC Dean of Academics, and the Commandant of the Sergeants Major Academy. They all provided our board with wonderful updates on professional military education, the College, and the Army. We wish Maj. Gen. Donn Hill all the best as he prepares to depart for this new job and responsibilities and we welcome Brig. Gen. David Foley and look forward to working with him in support of the College.

I am pleased to let you know that for 2021 we both increased the net asset value of our Foundation and realized a positive gross profit. And we raised our percentage of expenses used for programs (vice administrative) to more than 75%. I recognize and thank the efforts of my staff, my trustees, and our donors that made this so. These are positive indicators of the fiscal health of our Foundation.background is a photo of a NASCAR race car on the Kansas Speedway track. Over the photo background is text "You're invited to Victory Lane! April 15, 2022, 5 p.m." Also over the background is a photo of NASCAR driver Carl Edwards.

I am excited to tell you about our partnership with the Kansas Speedway and the “once-in-a-lifetime bucket list opportunity” event we are conducting April 15 at the Kansas Speedway. This fundraising event allows you the opportunity to not only support our Foundation, but also will allow you access to the Victory Lane area of the track infield (not normally open to the public) to meet a championship NASCAR driver, and the opportunity to either drive your car or to ride in the NASCAR Pace Car around the Speedway track! My thanks to trustee Pat Warren for this partnership. Click here for more details and to sign up!Nonprofit ratings badges from Charity Navigator and Candid

I am also pleased to let you know that we have been awarded Candid/GuideStar’s “Gold Seal for Transparency” and Charity Navigator’s “Give with Confidence Badge,” both of which let our donors know that we are transparent in our finances and operations and that we practice good stewardship. We understand the importance of not only reputation but also the responsible use of donations, and we are proud to have been awarded this recognition. – Read the full story here.

We continue to seek ways to better engage with our alumni. I invite you to contact us with your life updates and to encourage a fellow alum to do the same. Our Foundation becomes better every time we reconnect with a graduate. Look for our next edition of the Foundation News magazine and after you have enjoyed reading it, pass it along to an alum who didn’t get a copy so they can sign up for future issues.

It is a privilege and an honor to be part of the CGSC Foundation and I thank you for your continued support. Your Foundation is a valued-add to the College and what you contribute to and through our Foundation matters.

Stay safe.
